The Art Competition is open to all Artists in all the dhamma schools in Sri Lanka, as well as internationally.
2.1 Topics – your artwork must be based on any of the following topics.
1. Religious Harmony
Students can create artwork that showing different religious important to build up a good society around us.
2. World in 100 years
Students can create artwork that celebrates the wonders of science and technology, exploring the mysteries of the universe and the breakthroughs that have shaped our world.
3. Future of children
Students can use their imagination to create artwork inspired by their dreams, fantasies, and innermost thoughts.

Grade 1-3
Grade 4-5
Grade 6-7
Grade 8-9
Grade 10-11
2.3 Eligibility of the ART
- a. Competition is open to all Amateur and Professional artists.
- b. Paintings can be created in physical media or digital "paintings".
- c. Acceptable media would include oil, watercolor, pastel, acrylic, pencil, pen, etc. Experimental and mixed techniques are also acceptable, as long as 75% of the work uses some sort of paint, pen or pencil.
- d. Digital paintings - 2D and 3D work are eligible.
- e. Each file (physical or digital) must be submitted to the given google drive link in the website and all files should be in a jpeg/pdf format.
- f. Your art must be your own original concept and not a copy of anyone else’s copyrighted material.
- g. The judges has the sole right to refuse submissions based on quality of the image, failure to meet the given guidelines, poor quality, inappropriateness of content, and/or concerns regarding copyright infringement in the original work.
2.4 Preparation for the submission
files must meet the following specifications:
- a. JPG/ PDF files only.
- b. Keep the file size under 10 MB to ensure proper loading.
- c. Do not send images of your artwork which has been framed or contains watermarks.
- d. Your images may crop only for formatting purposes for a use in our slideshow presentations, other off-site slideshows or in the website if your images are chosen.
- e. The labeling of your images is very important. Label your image files in the following manner: first and last name_Age category_dhamma school. (no spaces between words)

2.5 Awards
- - The most creative award (will be announced during the art exhibition)
- - The most talented award (will be announced via website)
First, Second and Third places will be selected from all the age categories under the most talented award.
2.6 Criteria for Judging
Based on the artwork submitted to our competitions, they will be judged based on the following elements of artistic expression:
- 1. Interpretation and the clarity of the theme, to the viewer.
- 2. Creativity, uniqueness, and originality of the depicted theme.
- 3. Quality of artistic composition and overall design based on the theme.
- 4. Color and tone. Balance of image within its space.
- 5. Overall impression of the art. What is the effect of the artwork in general and as a whole?
- 6. Overall, does the artwork stand on its own as a complete and outstanding work of art?
2.7 ART EXHIBITION
After the announcement of the winners, there will be an art exhibition for the judges to select the winners for the most creative award from all the age categories. With this the competition concludes. Also, the best art work submitted by each dhamma school will be decided and announced at the awarding ceremony. All the competitors are invited to enter the exhibition and display their talents.
Note: the winners of the Essay competition and Orator competition are also invited to the award ceremony following the art exhibition to receive their certificate and gifts.

Quality of a leader
Students can talk about the qualities of a leader and their responsibility, and how thw qualities of a leader impact for towards their followers
Climate Change and the Environment
Students can write about the impact of climate change on the environment, the importance of taking action, and what individuals can do to reduce their carbon footprint.
A society with Buddhist moral values and ethics
Students can write about the values and ethics of a society with Buddhism, how that values help to build united and peaceful nation

2.3 Eligibility of the Essay
- a. Competition is open to all Amateur and Professional artists.
- b. Do not exceed 1000 words
- c. Each file submitted must be in a pdf format.
- c. Your essay must be your own original concept and not a copy of anyone else’s copyrighted material. You are allowed to use definitions/ common words/ facts from reliable sources, however avoid plagiarism. (Plagiarism will be checked and only 10% of plagiarism will be allowed)
- d. The judges has the sole right to refuse submissions based on, failure to meet show requirements, inappropriateness of content, and/or concerns regarding copyright infringement in the original work.
- e. The labeling of your essay is very important. Label your pdf files in the following manner: first and last name_Age category. (No spaces between the words)

2.5 Awards

3.1. Sponsor
The Art Competition is sponsored by UCC. The other sponsors will be notified later
3.2. Art Competition Period
The Registrations for the Competition begins on the 05th may 2023 at 7:00 pm and ends on the 30th may 2023 at 11:59 pm. Entries that are submitted before or after the competition Period will be disqualified. Submissions will be accepted only after the registrations during the mentioned duration through the necessary links given in the website.
3.3 How to Enter
Online: Application form for the registration will be available on our website (https://ucc.roadtorights.org). No entrance fees. Any Student from Any Dhamma School within the given age category can enter.
3.4 Submission
Note: there are three google drive links related to each competition (part A, B or C) in the website for the submission. Please use the correct link to submit your work
Example – Art work must be submitted to the given google drive link under the art competition guidelines in the website. (Same goes for other two competitions)
3.5 Winner Notification
Two weeks following the closure of the competition, the winners will be announced through our official website and by emails to the particular dhamma school.
3.6 Winner List
To retrieve the name of the winner: Go to (https://ucc.roadtorights.org). and Click on the "Winners Button". The Winner List will be available approximately two weeks after the submission closure date.
